SUMMARY:Matthew R. Sayles & Wyatt Thompson
DESCRIPTION:Heading down to the iconic Trempealeau Hotel on the banks of the Mississippi for a Saturday Night duo show with Wyatt Thomson! Come enjoy a pint and some fine tunes and excellent food.\n“Clever songwriting alongside rearranged classics– a throwback style that knows good\, old-fashioned storytelling…yet is utterly unpretentious about modernity.”–The Source\, Bend\, Oregon\nMatthew R. Sayles is a singer-songwriter\, multi-instrumentalist\, and founder of Philville Records\, an independent label he formed in 2000 in Marquette\, Michigan (you might also recognize him as the eccentric frontman of Eau Claire’s\, the Driftless Revelers).\nSayles has toured nationally and internationally\, and has had the honor of performing with country\, bluegrass\, and western swing legends like Merle Haggard\, Dwight Yoakam\, Asleep at the Wheel\, Larry Sparks\, Doyle Lawson\, the Duhks\, Uncle Earl\, Hot Club of Cowtown\, members of Bob Dylan’s “Rolling Thunder Review” and a long list of other highly talented regional and national roots music performers.\nSayles’s solo performances bounce from up tempo electric guitar-picked roots country\, early rock & roll\, roadhouse blues\, Americana ballads\, and bluegrass\, to north African-inspired instrumental pieces on five string banjo and south American-infused arrangements on the Andean ten-stringed Charango.\nAn accomplished songwriter\, story-teller\, and performer with a deep interest in the history of American roots music\, Sayles’s live performances evoke a modern interpretation of the coffee house shows of the 1950s and 60s\, while still keeping one foot grounded in the beer halls\, honky-tonks\, and night clubs of the recent past and present.\nhttps://www.philvillerecords.com/matthew-r-sayles-press-kit\n\nWyatt Thomson Bio:\nWyatt Thomson possesses a voice that echos the soundscapes of the dance halls\, supper clubs\, and road houses that still litter the landscape of his home in the Chippewa Valley of Wisconsin.\nCiting Tom Waits as his biggest influence\, it’s safe to say that Thomson (Like Waits) seems to have skipped right over decades of music that might have otherwise changed his sound for the worst.\nOne of Thomson’s biggest appeals is that he sounds like an artist transported from the 1950’s honky tonks of the Midwest\, and dropped off into the second decade of the 21st century unscathed by the worst aspects of pop country\, pop music\, and an industry forever changed by technology.\nNot unlike a character from a Roger Miller song\, Thomson has the bona fides of working pawn shops\, odd jobs\, and scraping by in the rust belt landscape of NW Wisconsin. As a result\, he’s gained the street wise and cynical wisdom that is earned young from such a life.\nThe world may press onward with its insane pace\, but Thomson ambles along with a casual confidence and story telling tales that feel like they’re ripped from old paperbacks in a truck stop\, or found in some lost postwar beatnik manuscript.\nhttps://www.philvillerecords.com/wyattthomson\nSad Records & Country Tunes Voted #2 Best New Album 2024:https://volumeone.org/…/15199-best-local-album-released…\nVoted Best New Artist in the Chippewa Valley 2023:https://volumeone.org/…/472/questions/12385-best-new-band

SUMMARY:NYEE with Chris & Ari Silver
DESCRIPTION:Some people don’t like to go out on New Year’s Eve. Some people are working or can’t find a sitter. Well\, this New Year’s Eve Eve we bring you two talented musicians who happen to be father and son. They’ll support each other and sing tunes together.CHRIS BIOAs roots music renaissance performer and multi-instrumentalist\, Chris Silver has made a name for himself as a songwriter and is known throughout the U.S. for his virtuosity on guitar\, mandolin\, and fiddle. His music is soulful and innovative and takes the listener to a musical space where Americiana roots music is fused with jazz\, blues\, folk and country with the sensibility of a contemporary singer/songwriter.\nSilver’s career began as a bluegrass musician performing at local Twin Cities clubs throughout the mid 1980s. In the late 80s and early 90s he performed with the nationally touring band\, Stoney Lonesome and made multiple appearances on national radio and television shows\, festivals\, and concert halls through the U.S. and three continents. He changed his musical direction in the early 2000s to weave roots\, Americana\, blues and global influences\, refining a sound that is recognizable for its emotional power. His live song lists and recordings include his own songs along with timeless gems.\nARI BIOHailing from River Falls\, Wisconsin\, Ari grew up immersed in bluegrass and Americana music. He spent weekends tagging along with his father\, a professional musician\, to bluegrass and folk festivals\, learning everything he could from workshops to open stages and forming mentor relationships with national performing musicians and songwriters. By the time he was in high school\, he was fronting a premier bluegrass band as a lead singer and guitarist performing in the midwest circuit. Ari also began writing songs and blending his passion for rock and roll with bluegrass to create his signature captivating solo performances. Ari’s music is a fusion of tradition with modern storytelling creating a sound that is both timeless and innovative.\nA graduate of East Tennessee State University’s Bluegrass and Old-Time Music Studies program\, Ari now lives in Jonesborough Tennessee and considers the Smokey Mountain region his home. Ari is dedicated to making music\, and has performed on guitar with Valerie Smith and Liberty Pike\, and on mandolin with Dave Adkins and Mountain Soul. Ari is currently performing throughout the United States as a solo artist\, on guitar and vocals with Liam Purcell and Cane Mill Road\, and leading the country rock band\, Tennessee Lightning.\nAs a performing songwriter\, Ari’s live performances are a testament to his dedication to the craft\, as he effortlessly weaves together melodies and instrumental solos full of incredible energy. His performances continue to build a strong following throughout the United States and Canada.\nThe hat will be passed. We ask for a minimum of $6 per adult listener. All money is for the artists.

SUMMARY:Clay Fulton
DESCRIPTION:Clay Fulton is a singer-songwriter from Rochester\, Minnesota. His debut album When Trouble Comes has been a long time coming. Songs like “Walls Of St. Paul” and “When Trouble Comes” were written while studying at McNally Smith College of Music in St. Paul\, Minnesota before coming home to help run the family restaurant. While buried in the business that is owning a restaurant\, he found time to play live music and create songs like “Down On Broadway” that tell of the late nights that follow a long day of work\, and the winding down that takes place afterwards. Using the peaceful vessel of a long drive\, Clay gracefully takes us through his journey showcasing the importance of family and relationships in his more recent songs “Show Me State” and “Call My Bluff”. Clay has a knack for writing clever and simple lines that are both approachable and memorable. We experience that first hand in the song “28 Days”. This album takes us back to the great American folk singers of yesteryear with a modern indie-pop twist; think John Prine meets Dawes. When Trouble Comes balances smart story-telling with serious but playful musical arrangements to support them. Clay definitely wants you to feel the angst\, frustration and grit of the ups and downs of love and life\, all while leaving you with a sign of hope.$5 or more cover per listener with all money collected going directly to the artist. Hugs and kisses!

SUMMARY:Eric Tessemer
DESCRIPTION:Eric Tessmer returns to Wisconsin from Texas for the holidays – and for a solo performance at the Trempealeau Hotel. Voted best guitarist in Austin\, TX 2017\, Tessmer’s solo performances are not to be missed!Tessmer’s songwriting has been described as being inspired by Stevie Ray Vaughan\, to whom he was compared in his early years in Austin. He still receives comparisons to Vaughan because he plays the guitar with a similar “power and finesse”. The Fender (company)recently presented him with a surf green copy of the 1959 Fender Stratocaster that he uses as his main guitar. He has also cited David Gilmour\, Eric Clapton\, Jimi Hendrix\, and Gary Clark Jr.as inspirations. HuffPostcontributor Ashley Jude Collie has described Tessmer’s “soul-chedelic” style as “Tessmer’s own cocktail of R&B\, soul and blues rock”.And\, he has been collaborating with Nancy Wilson of Heart.See him here folks. Please bring cash money for the hat. We ask for a minimum $6 cover per adult listener. All money collected goes to the artist. Please give generously to the artists who give to us\, all year round.

SUMMARY:James 'Mudcat' Grant
DESCRIPTION:James “Mudkat” Grant began listening to rock n roll\, classical\, and country music at an early age. He joined his first band in high school after seeing the Beatles on TV\, extending it through college years playing hundreds and hundreds of gigs. Having the opportunity to open for the Flying Burrito Brothers in May\, 1970\, changed their repertoire and musical direction. The band\, now called North Country\, moved to Denver\, where they opened for the comedian Steve Martin\, but within a year the band had broken up\, so Grant moved into doing solo work with vocal\, guitar and harmonica.Recording his first CD in ’95\, “Not the Only World”\, which was nominated for a Minnesota Music Award\, James continued writing and performing in the upper midwest with occasional forays with other musicians. “This Town”\, an EP\, with This Town \, the title cut\, Southern View\, Distant Light\, and Something New\, was recorded in 2013\, with other songs waiting for studio production.James Grant has been heavily influenced in his writing style by Sting\, Neil Young\, Dylan\, James Taylor and others\, along with environmental and social justice issues. His passion for writing and performing\, with guitar and vocal study\, has continued to this day. This very early member of the Organic Music Cooperative delivers reflective originals and digs deep for obscure tracks that need to be shared and brought back to life.$5 cover per adult listener gives you three hours of fantastic music!

SUMMARY:Dylan Doyle
DESCRIPTION:If you haven’t seen him before\, it is time. We rarely have a Sunday evening music. Hope you can join us for this special post game show. Fans of blues\, rock\, classic rock and/or R & B will not be disappointed. Our kitchen closes at 7pm on Sunday\, so get here early for dinner and a show.Dylan Doyle’s “Endlessly” Evokes Old-School\, Guitar-Driven R&B as the First Single Off His Forthcoming Album\nDeep grooves and longing lyrics define Doyle’s latest single.\nNEW PALTZ\, NY — Singer-songwriter Dylan Doyle is excited to announce his new album\, “Another Shade of Blue.” his fourth independent EP\, is out now.\nOver the years\, Doyle’s sound has been known to range from fiery blues rock to vibrant funk with Americana roots woven through his musical tapestry. However\, “Endlessly” is decidedly deeper as an R&B-infused single that showcases slower\, more intentional guitarwork and vocal stylings that range from unapologetically righteous to powerfully vulnerable.\n“‘Endlessly’ is about reminiscing on the feeling of falling in love early in a relationship that’s been worn down over time; looking back at better days with fondness\, while searching for hope and meaning in the present. It aligns with the theme of the album\, which has this thread of melancholic reflection that ties together eight songs with different moods and melodies\,” he says.\nAlthough you’ll hear elements of classic rock\, roots\, funk\, soul\, and pop throughout the album’s diverse tracklist\, “Endlessly” stands out with its mellow groove that evokes a nostalgic mood that we’ve all likely felt—but instead of dwelling on that longing feeling of a love-gone-sour\, it makes the listener want to pull closer the good things they’ve got.\nHear it now!\nFor more than a decade\, Doyle’s music has centered around passion-driven live shows that keep dance floors packed. He’s been a common name on the tri-state area music scene since he was a teen\, clocking in 200+ shows a year and earning the respect of musicians like Bill Payne (LIttle Feat) and Jimmy Vivino (Conan O’Brian Show) who would usually remark on his talent exceeding the expectations of his age.\nHowever\, now at age 28\, Doyle has proven that his skill isn’t just a flash in the pan\, it’s growth-driven\, backed by the stories that define entire chapters of the experiential life he’s lived as a full-time touring performer. All of this is present in his new album.\nPlease bring a minimum of $10 per adult listener.

SUMMARY:Ironstill
DESCRIPTION:Ironstill holds their third performance here THIS Saturday. These two are a pretty big deal. Their music calls to the listener from a time long ago. The Hotel\, built in 1871\, is the perfect place to really hear them. Ironstill is the dynamic old-time duo of Josh Rabie and Russell Pedersen. SUMMARY:Michael McElrath
DESCRIPTION:From the performer:I knew I wanted to do music when at age nine when I heard one of the staff at summer camp play “That’ll Be the Day” by Buddy Holly on an acoustic guitar. I got my own guitar when I was eleven and my cousin Barry Jens started showing me a few chords\, turning me on to Hank Williams and Johnny Cash. Then along came Bob Dylan\, Gordon Lightfoot\, Peter\, Paul\, and Mary\, etc. along with the “British Invasion” and I was hooked\, inundated by the Golden Age of popular music that was the ’60s and early ’70s. All through school I was in a folk group and a rock band\, playing in bars starting at age fifteen. I spent a year at college\, met Kyrl and Jane Henderson and formed the acoustic trio Boulder Roll. We went to California pursuing the Dream but things didn’t pan out and I wound up in the Twin Cities where I started writing songs; I played solo gigs as well as in bands with such notables as Dan Neale\, Dan Lund\, Becky Thompson\, Russ Pahl\, Peter Ostroushko\, and Lonnie Knight\, while also doing an occasional Boulder Roll reunion. It was during this time that I opened for Sonny Terry and Brownie McGee\, the high point of my musical career.\n“Michael McElrath\, backing himself on acoustic guitar…is exactly the sort of musician for which coffee houses were made.”Java John’s\, Decorah\, IAI might also add brewpubs…\nOther meaningful comments which I can only paraphrase come from Dave Moore\, who told me I was the only person to ever accompany him and get the rhythm right on a particular song and that I followed his tempo changes and kept right with him…\nGreg Brown once said he was amazed that my voice was so strong after having smoked Camel straights for such a long time…\nPeter Ostroushko mentioned that I had the best sounding acoustic guitar he’d ever heard\, which he attributed not only to Martin Guitars but also the way I played it…\nFrom The Hotel:Please bring cash. We ask for a minimum of $5 per person per adult listener with all money going to the artist.

SUMMARY:Marques Morel
DESCRIPTION:Marques Morel is an American songwriter/story-teller\, midwestern-twanger/folksinger\, guitar-thumper/harmonica wailer\, street-performer/wandering troubadour\, steadfast woodcutter/migrant worker\, a father\, a son\, and a friend to all.\n“Taking his cue from the likes of Townes Van Zandt\, Woody Guthrie\, Hank Williams\, and any number of other tattered troubadours\, (Marques Morel) sounds like a cross between Johnny Cash\, Bob Seger\, and the late John Stewart (solo\, The Kingston Trio) reciting ragged tales of the American West and its once-former glories\,” writes Lee Zimmerman of The Alternate Root.\nOriginally from the Illinois corn country\, he has performed just about anywhere that anybody would listen: big city street corners around the world\, county fairs\, folk festivals\, hole in the wall taverns/divebars/honky tonks\, cabin porches\, backyard barbeques\, listening rooms\, theatres large and small\, and beside many campfires and woodstoves amongst the ghosts of his songwriter heroes.\nMarques has had the honor of sharing stages with some of the great songsters of our time- Charlie Parr\, Arlo McKinley\, Joe Pug\, Willy Tea Taylor\, Riley Downing\, Billy Don Burns\, Pokey LaFarge\, and Chicago Farmer to name a few of his favorites.\nMarques has released five original albums to date: “Live and Raw in Rockford” (2013) and “Searching for America” (2014) were recorded bare bones with passion before his hiatus from solo work for about 6 years. In 2021 Morel returned to the studio for “Trail of The Ghost” and in 2022 he released his first full band record- “Wind and Rain.”\nIn June of 2024 Morel released “Tales and Tellings\,” his first work to earn widespread critical acclaim. “Tales and Tellings” was recorded at Bomb Shelter studio in Nashville\, TN and produced by Andrija Tokic (producer of The Deslondes\, John R. Miller\, Ian Noe\, Luke Bell\, etc.). In response to the record\, NO DEPRESSION stated- “There’s no filler here. Every song on ‘Tales and Tellings’ is packed with plenty of ear candy\, revealing Morel’s wry wit that never turns smarmy. It’s delivered from the heart\, dusty and roadworn\, but undaunted.”\nKnown for his intense and infectious energy on stage and his gritty and honest songwriting and delivery\, Marques Morel has been described by his fans as “raw and rustic” and “guts on the floor\,” sometimes abandoning the mic and guitar cable to march into the crowd and lead a raucous bar or a sterile listening room into a grand finale of singalongs and stompalongs. He currently plays around 150 shows a year. He is performing as a one man show accompanied by his old guitar\, harmonica on the rack\, and makeshift kick drum.\nPlease bring a minimum of $6 for the hat. All money collected will go to the artist to continue sharing their music and words.

SUMMARY:Loosey Stone
DESCRIPTION:Loosey Stone is a string and vocal band that intricately weaves harmonies and stories into a rich tapestry of sound. Rooted in the soul of the Driftless Wisconsin area\, this indie-folk quartet enchants audiences with their original compositions\, close family harmonies and diverse instrumentation on guitar\, mandolin\, stand-up/bowed bass and the occasional hammered dulcimer. Rose Bruce (singer-songwriter) and Christina Dollhausen (singer-songwriter\, The Iowans)\, draw inspiration from their separate life experiences\, yet their songs blend seamlessly when united within the band\, as if destined to be friends. With Rose and Christina trading lead vocals\, seasoned multi-instrumentalists Dave Bruce (Freaks of Nature) and Adrian Hudson (Shook the Trees\, Bathtub Springs\, Freaks of Nature) add layers of beauty\, harmony\, and depth to the Loosey Stone soundscape.\nJust as stones can shift and settle with the whims of unpredictable weather\, Loosey Stone embraces the uncertainty of their musical journey. They trust that each note falls precisely where it needs to be\, resulting in a sound that is both reassuring and exhilarating. Through lush melodies and thought-provoking lyrics\, Loosey Stone invites audiences on a captivating journey\, leaving an indelible mark on the hearts and ears of all who encounter their music. We ask for a minimum of $5 per adult listener for the band. Let’s give Loosey Stone a nice\, warm welcome back.

SUMMARY:Clay Fulton Hosts Thanksgiving Eve
DESCRIPTION:Happy Friendsgiving!! This is going to be a great night out.Clay Fulton is a singer-songwriter from Rochester\, Minnesota. Clay definitely wants you to feel the angst\, frustration and grit of the ups and downs of love and life\, all while leaving you with a sign of hope. He’s on the road solo while the ‘Lost 40’ band are getting ready for a busy outdoor concert season.$5 or more cover per listener with all money collected going directly to the artist. Hugs and kisses!PS David S will be behind the bar!

DESCRIPTION:The Brothers Burn Mountain are a soulful\, energetic\, eclectic duo of brothers\, Ryan and Jesse Dermody. They’ve been playing music together everyday for more than 20 years. They’ve released 10 full-length albums of original music\, and have toured across the country over the years\, though especially in the Midwest\, having played more than 2\,000 live shows. Their sound is a roiling melting pot of so many musical influences\, that it’s hard to describe\, except as energetic and eclectic; with afro-cuban rhythms\, Zappa-esque spontanaeity\, grittiness\, bluesyness\, tenderness\, and a singer-songwriter\, folky flair. The Brothers have built their own off-the-grid studio! Built from all recycled materials\, Diarmada Studios is nestled in the deep woods.Regarding their album The Dark Exchange“(Blue Spruce is) uplifting and transcendent\, a bliss-out.
