SUMMARY:Lou Shields
DESCRIPTION:Lou Shields continues the tradition of American music with a performance that pullsin styles of days-gone-by. On stage you will find him using 1931 National Resonator Guitars\, 1930s Arch Tops with D’Armond pickups played through a Fender PanoVerb amp. He accompanies this with a unique front porch style of foot percussion and sometimes a harmonica. Lou carries a full sound during live performances\, filling the room with emotion and an early acoustic and electric sound reminiscent of Golden Age Blues and Americana. All while sharing stories\, thoughts and experiences with the audience.\nLou developed a deep interest in music from a young age and taught himself to play guitar. By 18\, he was already playing with friends and forming a band. This was around the same time he was involved in a devastating woodworking accident that resulted in the partial loss of two fingers on his right hand and damage to two others. Despite the setback\, Lou quickly adapted to his new situation\, learning to play with his modified picking hand.\nSoon after\, Lou began exploring the roots of American music\, immersing himself in the rich musical history of the city. He frequented blues and jazz clubs in Chicago and traveled to Clarksdale\, MS\, and New Orleans\, LA\, to further deepen his understanding of the genres that shaped modern music.\nLou grew up in Chicago\, living downtown or in the South Suburbs his entire life. His father Lou Sr had an extensive 45rpm record collection filled with early Rock ‘n Roll. Lou spent hours and hours spinning these classics on an old HiFi set which began his life long love and journey learning about the roots of this music. He also had exposure to Maxwell Street in Chicago when he was young\, and those memories resonate with him much more now than when he first experienced this historical phenomenon—a place where goods\, both old and new\, were bought and sold\, where people from all walks of life collided\, and where the music he would eventually grow to love was performed on the street.\nWhile living in Chicago he owned an art gallery in Pilsen at 18th and Halsted St. Lou often creates his art from experiences on the road. He will take a picture of an old home in Mississippi and then draw it later or he takes inspiration from people and scenes in his wife’s early 20th century photo collection. He exhibits his art in Gallery shows or sells prints out of his merch box or at his wife’s vintage clothing store. In addition to being an artist\, Lou is also a Professor of Art at a college in the Chicago-area. He enjoys teaching his students about art and art history.\nIn 2015\, Lou purchased 15 acres of land and a salvaged wood cabin in the Driftless Region of Southwest Wisconsin (near Viroqua) where he set up an off-grid homestead. Lou loves working with wood and reclaimed materials due to his deep connection to the past. The homestead is filled with antiques he found on the road from stopping at roadside estate sales and thrift stores. In addition to the cabin\, Lou has built a screen porch\, tiny house\, an amazing reclaimed shed and other antique-styled outbuildings. Lou hired the Amish to build a barn on his homestead for woodworking and for community music gatherings. He also completed a log cabin in 2020 that was built on the high bluff with views of the Kickapoo River.\nLou enjoys playing his guitar on the porch of his Kickapoo River Valley Homestead while hanging out with his dog (Watson) or listening to music on the record player. Since he was young he has admired musicians such as Blind Willie McTell\, Son House\, Mississippi Fred McDowell\, Lead Belly\, Charley Patton\, Robert Johnson\, Mississippi John Hurt\, Blind Lemon Jefferson and Jimi Hendrix.\nIn addition to living in the Chicago-area and Viroqua\, Wisconsin he also lives in Madison\, WI with his Wife\, Stacey Roou and his teenage stepdaughters. Lou has no problem splitting his time between three areas – after all they are not that far apart and it gives him a balance of city and country life. Lou’s heart is on the road and he loves the ability to spend his time in different areas. Lou consistently tours throughout the United States and Europe in his camper van.The hat will be passed. Please bring a minimum of $5 per adult listener to keep this guy on the road\, sharing his music.

SUMMARY:Mojohand
DESCRIPTION:New Jersey-born\, Brooklyn-based band Mojohand have been writing rockin\, country-soul-soaked songs and playing them in every bar\, backyard\, and basement willing to have them for the past seven years. Their energetic and melodic brand of rock & roll\, ginger soul\, and Jersey twang has won over crowds from coast to coast. For their third studio LP “Dungarees”\, Mojohand locked themselves in the live room at Business District Recording in Johnson City\, NY and let the tape roll on a vintage 4-track ampex machine. The result is a timeless album that evokes the thousands of late nights onstage refining their raucous style and infectious songs\, and the countless miles they’ve traveled together in their van chasing down the same promises that rock & roll has made with its fingers crossed for generations and generations. The first single from Dungarees\, “Santa Fe” is a melodic and laid back travelogue inspired by some of Mojohand’s less-glamorous nights on the road. “Santa Fe” showcases Mojohand’s knack for synthesizing their love of classic country-rock and southern-soul records into timeless bites of ear-candy.

SUMMARY:Jeff Cramer & Jack Gregori
DESCRIPTION:Since the release of his 2019 album Northern 45\, Jeff Cramer has been digging into the nooks and crannies of modern folk\, establishing himself as a distinctive interrogator of what it means to call America home. A self-described Midwest runaway\, his passion for the American landscape reveals itself not only in his music but in his lifelong advocacy for clean energy. In August 2024\, Jeff released Forever Morning with acclaimed producer Andrew Berlin (Gregory Alan Isakov’s Evening Machines) — a sprawling road-trip through homelands real and imagined\, mixing soft-thrumming acoustics and sunny drumbeats with a healthy dose of self-exploration. A month later\, he and a magically slapdash band recorded Live at the Bluebird\, a spur-of-the-moment celebration of music he’d spent the better part of a decade crafting with meticulous care. Stripped down and revved up\, Cramer combs through the storied landscape of his folk forefathers to make music that’s both homage and evolution. He’s currently at work on a new record\, and tours when his day job lets him\, or when he can live without the sleep.Jack Gregori brandishes his deep baritone voice and black Stetson from local blues bars in Washington\, DC to Hollywood\, giving audiences a rare opportunity to practice a rebel yell and test out their best heel-toe moves. Raised in Plymouth\, New Hampshire\, on early piano and saxophone lessons and a childhood diet of The Beatles\, Howlin’ Wolf\, and The Rolling Stones\, Jack found his way to country music only after a winding path through three states\, a law degree\, and a boom-to-bust mortgage career — eventually landing in DC\, where his honky-tonk band\, Human Country Jukebox\, built a loyal following through a multi-year residency at the legendary Madam’s Organ. That local buzz turned national when he advanced on NBC’s The Voice\, drawing praise from Grammy-nominated coach Ellie Goulding (“Your voice is incredibly deep and powerful”). The Washingtonian and Washington City Paper have both spotlighted his rise\, and the résumé backs it up: over 500 shows in just the past few years\, a 2014 debut album\, performances at nearly every major DC venue from the Black Cat to The Hamilton\, and shared stages with Nashville mainstays like Jim Lauderdale — all delivered with the kind of lived-in perspective that gives real weight to songs about heartbreak and gratitude alike. The hat will be passed. Please be generous. Thank you for your support of live music and our staff and venue. We’re all in this together. Enjoy!

It will be a treat to share the stage with these two. ” Hope to see some old friends and meet some new ones too.James “Mudkat” Grant began listening to rock n roll\, classical\, and country music at an early age. He joined his first band in high school after seeing the Beatles on TV\, extending it through college years playing hundreds and hundreds of gigs. Having the opportunity to open for the Flying Burrito Brothers in May\, 1970\, changed their repertoire and musical direction. The band\, now called North Country\, moved to Denver\, where they opened for the comedian Steve Martin\, but within a year the band had broken up\, so Grant moved into doing solo work with vocal\, guitar and harmonica.Recording his first CD in ’95\, “Not the Only World”\, which was nominated for a Minnesota Music Award\, James continued writing and performing in the upper midwest with occasional forays with other musicians. “This Town”\, an EP\, with This Town \, the title cut\, Southern View\, Distant Light\, and Something New\, was recorded in 2013\, with other songs waiting for studio production.James Grant has been heavily influenced in his writing style by Sting\, Neil Young\, Dylan\, James Taylor and others\, along with environmental and social justice issues. His passion for writing and performing\, with guitar and vocal study\, has continued to this day. This very early member of the Organic Music Cooperative delivers reflective originals and digs deep for obscure tracks that need to be shared and brought back to life.Hans Reimer was born right here in Trempealeau county\, was homeschooled and started playing music at a very young age. The family band began first with his parents then later with his siblings. They even backpacked through Europe\, playing music and writing songs for two months. Now\, 20 years later he is still writing songs and playing music. ‘I love music. I love life\, I love jamming and connecting with people through music. I probably have written hundreds of songs but I can only remember the good ones and I am excited to share them with you!!’These three will take turns playing their originals. No cover. SUMMARY:Marques Morel
DESCRIPTION:Marques Morel is an American songwriter/story-teller\, midwestern-twanger/folksinger\, guitar-thumper/harmonica wailer\, street-performer/wandering troubadour\, steadfast woodcutter/migrant worker\, a father\, a son\, and a friend to all.“Taking his cue from the likes of Townes Van Zandt\, Woody Guthrie\, Hank Williams\, and any number of other tattered troubadours\, (Marques Morel) sounds like a cross between Johnny Cash\, Bob Seger\, and the late John Stewart (solo\, The Kingston Trio) reciting ragged tales of the American West and its once-former glories\,” writes Lee Zimmerman of The Alternate Root.Originally from the Illinois corn country\, he has performed just about anywhere that anybody would listen: big city street corners around the world\, county fairs\, folk festivals\, hole in the wall taverns/divebars/honky tonks\, cabin porches\, backyard barbeques\, listening rooms\, theatres large and small\, and beside many campfires and woodstoves amongst the ghosts of his songwriter heroes.Marques has had the honor of sharing stages with some of the great songsters of our time- Charlie Parr\, Arlo McKinley\, Joe Pug\, Willy Tea Taylor\, Riley Downing\, Billy Don Burns\, Pokey LaFarge\, and Chicago Farmer to name a few of his favorites.Marques has released five original albums to date: “Live and Raw in Rockford” (2013) and “Searching for America” (2014) were recorded bare bones with passion before his hiatus from solo work for about 6 years. In 2021 Morel returned to the studio for “Trail of The Ghost” and in 2022 he released his first full band record- “Wind and Rain.”In June of 2024 Morel released “Tales and Tellings\,” his first work to earn widespread critical acclaim. “Tales and Tellings” was recorded at Bomb Shelter studio in Nashville\, TN and produced by Andrija Tokic (producer of The Deslondes\, John R. Miller\, Ian Noe\, Luke Bell\, etc.). In response to the record\, NO DEPRESSION stated- “There’s no filler here. Every song on ‘Tales and Tellings’ is packed with plenty of ear candy\, revealing Morel’s wry wit that never turns smarmy. It’s delivered from the heart\, dusty and roadworn\, but undaunted.”Known for his intense and infectious energy on stage and his gritty and honest songwriting and delivery\, Marques Morel has been described by his fans as “raw and rustic” and “guts on the floor\,” sometimes abandoning the mic and guitar cable to march into the crowd and lead a raucous bar or a sterile listening room into a grand finale of singalongs and stompalongs. He currently plays around 150 shows a year and will be found performing either as a one man show accompanied by his old guitar\, harmonica on the rack\, and makeshift kick drum\, or with his dynamic and spirited band\, The Midnight Wind.We ask for a minimum of $6 per adult listener for the artists-the price of a pint.First two photos by Cozette Morel. Their original music is somewhere beyond psychedelic funk-pop\, or electro synthwave\, digging a deep new groove for “Upper Mississippi Valley Rock and Roll”. When class and grime collide\, it’s a little unsettling\, but wildly satisfying…“sparkles\, distortion\, and sequins.”The Getaway includes vocalist Jasmine AH\, guitarist Bill Fiorella\, bassist and synthmaster Shane Kouba\, percussionist Clovis Larson\, keyboardist and back-up vocalist Katie Getz\, and\, if you’re lucky\, hype-man\, Sam Hudnall. The Getaway released their debut album\, self-titled\, “The Getaway\,” in July 2024. They continue to expand their library of original sounds and songs. Their eagerly awaited sophomore album “Softness Winning” came out this spring.\n\nBuy Your People Brothers Band Online

SUMMARY:Eli Gardiner
DESCRIPTION:Soulful\, weathered Americana for fans of Jason Isbell\, John Moreland & Springsteen’s Nebraska side. Honest songs\, close up.Eli Gardiner writes songs that feel weathered\, human\, and wide open — the kind of Americana that carries the dust of old roads\, the ache of real life\, and the quiet hope that keeps people moving.Born and raised in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula and now based in Minneapolis\, Gardiner blends Americana\, heartland rock\, and folk into songs that are intimate\, soulful\, and deeply rooted in story. His music has drawn comparisons to the emotional grit of John Moreland\, Jason Isbell\, and Chris Knight\, while still carving out a voice that is unmistakably his own.Gardiner’s latest EP\, Sliver\, released in March 2026\, follows his haunting 2023 album Transient — a hushed\, home-recorded collection inspired in part by the stark storytelling of Springsteen’s Nebraska. His songs move between the personal and the political\, the lonely and the communal\, always circling back to what it means to be human\, to endure\, and to keep reaching for connection.Music in Minnesota called him “relatable\, soulful\, and honest\,” while Americana UK praised his voice as “full of character and soul.” Whether solo\, acoustic\, or backed by a full band\, Eli Gardiner brings the kind of songwriting that belongs in a listening room — raw enough to feel immediate\, crafted enough to stay with you long after the last note fades.
