SUMMARY:The Driftless Revelers
DESCRIPTION:The Driftless Revelers gather for some Yule Tide vibes and down home freak folk at this gem on the Mississippi — the Trempealeau Hotel!\n“Scrappy string-based freak-folk\, featuring songs like ‘Meat Raffle Mambo\,’ ‘Wisconsin Saturday Nights’ and ‘Jesus Shaves’ that both revere and good-naturedly poke fun at state culture — [The Driftless Revelers] may remind listeners of Lou and Peter Berryman or even the old Free Hot Lunch! band.”–Isthmus Magazine\, Madison\, WI.\n”It’s a little ‘out there’: Driftless Revelers release American Fork Standards –Volume One Magazine\, Eau Claire\n“Jack Black ran so these guys could stumble”–Nick\, Announcer at Sol Grass Music Festival 2024\nThe Driftless Revelers formed in the second spring of the first global pandemic of the 21st century\, with one ear turned toward the shellac platters and Victrola virtuosos of the early to mid 20th century\, and the other ear glued to the soundscapes of the 1960’s & 1970’s American freak-folk scene.\nSince their debut tour in 2021\, the band has billed with Grammy winning bluegrass legends like Tim O’Brien & the Gibson Brothers\, toured extensively throughout the Upper Midwest performing with other amazing artists like Big Richard\, Willy Tea Taylor\, Davey Allen & the Midnights\, and had breakout performances at several festivals and events (Sol Grass Music Festival\, Mile of Music in Appleton\, WI. featured in Rolling Stone Magazine).\nThese Eau Claire\, Wisconsin based weirdos have earned a cult following of devoted fans from Minnesota to Michigan who appreciate their irreverent\, highly original\, and sometimes slightly psychedelic interpretation of American roots music with a Midwest twist. Their live show banter and thoroughly entertaining sets have earned them comparisons to Ween\, Dr. Hook & the Medicine Show\, They Might be Giants\, Tenacious D\, Cheech & Chong\, and the Holy Modal Rounders. Their debut record\, American Fork Standards (2022)\, was well received by their family members\, and a few other people who said nice things about it. Their most recent record\, Live at the Slowpoke Lounge & Cabaret (2024) captures the band’s deadpan comedy and musical chops in a lounge environment that demands a proper listen in a leisure suit with a scotch & Pall Mall.\nFeaturing the original songwriting of Ben Nelson\, Matthew R. Sayles\, and Jerod Kaszynski\, the Driftless Revelers will pleasure a crowd with plectral wah pedal banjo tones\, the mournful wailing of resophonic steel guitars\, and the up-right bass bellows of an era that can’t quite be defined\, but revels in the timeless ephemera of weird old-time American music.\nWith influences as varied and eccentric as a proper musty smelling thrift store record collection\, the band grooves merrily through early roots blues and jazz music\, to hillbilly and string band howlers\, all the way into the not-quite folk but not-quite psychedelic realms of their own creation.\nA Driftless Revelers show will lure you in with their joy–keep you dancing with their search for the cosmic groove in the confines of stringed instruments–and will send you on your way with flashbacks of the Driftless Revelry found only in the essence of the intangible reaches of notes once played– that then fall silent.\n\nThese boys are highly entertaining. Listeners are sure to question what they hear at times\, and laugh when they put it together. Songs like ‘Meat Raffle Mambo’ and ‘Get Naked\, Drink Beer’ give you an idea of what to expect.\nPlease bring cash money. $6 minimum cover per adult listener. All money goes to the band to keep them on the road.\nRooms range in price from $60-$160. Call 608 534 6898 to make a weekend of it!

SUMMARY:The Power Cut: Jeffrey Foucault & Friends
DESCRIPTION:The December 8th Jeffrey Foucault show is SOLD OUT! The guys have Monday December 9th open. We’re going to host another show. Forty tickets will be available for another chance to enjoy these artists in an unconventional and very intimate setting.\nTHE POWER CUT (Jeffrey Foucault & Friends – Monday 12/9 doors open at 5pm\, lights off and session begins at 7pm)\nWhat would it look like if the band showed up and the power went out? We’d probably just set them up in the middle of the room with acoustic guitars and an upright bass\, a limited drum kit\, and put seats for the customers all around them. Light a few candles\, and let them play. When they do it in Ireland they call it a session\, and play traditional songs. In our country\, Hank Williams and Ray Charles are traditional. Join Jeffrey and his band\, including Minnesota’s Erik Koskinen\, for an intimate unplugged session. Their own songs\, other people’s songs\, maybe a surprise guest or two. Limited tickets available\, first come first serve. We’ll have just 40 tickets at $30 each. These are sure to sell out\, so do not hesitate to get your tickets ASAP. We will offer 20 tickets for cash sale at the saloon and 20 tickets for sale online through Eventbrite. Tickets go on sale THIS Wednesday November 27\, 3pm at both the saloon and online. Save a few bucks and get your tickets here in person (be sure to grab a drink or a bite to eat). We cannot hold tickets. SUMMARY:Story Time for Adults
DESCRIPTION:Join local readers for a night out close to home. It’s the third SFA of the season. We’d like to welcome and thank Meghan\, the ‘new’ library director at The Trempealeau Library for putting thistogether\, choosing the topics and readers. Our very own Ty Webster will be your host. The theme “Celebrating Books: Banned or Not” advocates for the freedom to read. By celebrating both banned and widely accepted books\, this theme encourages open dialogue about censorship\, the value of storytelling\, and the role of literature in society. It invites readers to reflect on the power of books to inspire change and promote understanding.Up to six readers choose an excerpt related to the theme to read out loud for approximately 10 minutes. Get exposed to some new reads or maybe an old favorite needs revisiting. We ask for quiet during the readings\, but you do not need to raise your hand to take a beverage or bathroom break. Come celebrate literacy!

SUMMARY:Clay Fulton
DESCRIPTION:Clay Fulton is a singer-songwriter from Rochester\, Minnesota. His debut album When Trouble Comes has been a long time coming. Songs like “Walls Of St. Paul” and “When Trouble Comes” were written while studying at McNally Smith College of Music in St. Paul\, Minnesota before coming home to help run the family restaurant. While buried in the business that is owning a restaurant\, he found time to play live music and create songs like “Down On Broadway” that tell of the late nights that follow a long day of work\, and the winding down that takes place afterwards. Using the peaceful vessel of a long drive\, Clay gracefully takes us through his journey showcasing the importance of family and relationships in his more recent songs “Show Me State” and “Call My Bluff”. Clay has a knack for writing clever and simple lines that are both approachable and memorable. We experience that first hand in the song “28 Days”. This album takes us back to the great American folk singers of yesteryear with a modern indie-pop twist; think John Prine meets Dawes. When Trouble Comes balances smart story-telling with serious but playful musical arrangements to support them. Clay definitely wants you to feel the angst\, frustration and grit of the ups and downs of love and life\, all while leaving you with a sign of hope. He’s on the road solo while the ‘Lost 40’ band are getting ready for a busy outdoor concert season.$5 or more cover per listener with all money collected going directly to the artist. Hugs and kisses!Photo: @kateklausphotographyHere he is with the bandhttps://m.youtube.com/watch?v=qoYaLkhkBsU…

SUMMARY:Gregg 'Cheech' Hall
DESCRIPTION:Gregg ‘Cheech’ Hall has been a cornerstone of the western Wisconsin music scene for nearly half his life. He has played on a dozen albums\, recorded over 100 songs\, and performed countless shows as a sideman\, frontman\, and solo/duo act. You’d think he’d be easing up\, settling into a comfortable groove. \nThink again. \nWith his newly released album (for sale at The Hotel)\, “Echoes in the Treetops\,” Hall makes it clear that inside his chest beats the raging heart of a rocker. The seven-song collection has the fire\, the effervescence\, of a debut album\, but it’s seasoned with the soul and perspective of a high-mileage road warrior and the wisdom of a one-time party animal who saw the light and found sobriety six years ago. \nHe hasn’t done a show here since March\, choosing instead to spend his time here chilling\, hiking or deep in contemplation. So get yourselves together and make some noise for this guy. Show is outside\, weather permitting. The hat will be passed. Kindly have $5 cash (or more) to help keep the ‘Cheech’ show on the road.

SUMMARY:Luke Callen & Long Mama
DESCRIPTION:About Luke Callen: \nIn an age of quick fixes\, flashing screens\, and pop ‘songs’ that are more formula than art\, an album that takes its sweet time is a radical act. “Also Going Nowhere\,” Luke Callen’s third full-length effort\, is just that – a collection of songs that spread out through time and space\, dripping with honest Midwest charm and a mischievous glint. It’s music that you can relax into\, paired with lyrics you’ll want to chew on and savor\, that ask something of their listener. These songs are proof and reminder: you don’t actually have to go anywhere at all to\, you know\, get somewhere. \nhttps://lukecallen.com/ \nAbout Long Mama: \nLong Mama’s music blisters with the heart and grit of someone who has lost hard\, loved harder\, and licked her burns until they stung then silvered. In a drafty attic just west of the Milwaukee River they grew up on\, you’ll find songwriter Kat Wodtke (Wood-key) raking through notebooks in search of a salve: words\, stories\, and sounds to temper the dumpster fires we never mean to light. Flickering behind each song is Wodtke’s lived insight into our human faults and fissures — the moments in life when we can slip and lose our footing or claw our way out\, better people on the other side of the blaze. Featuring Andrew Koenig (electric guitar)\, Sam Odin (upright bass)\, and Nick Lang (drums). \nhttps://www.longmamamusic.com/ \nLuke and Long Mama are no stranger to The Hotel. They effortlessly make their audience feel warm and familiar. You’ll be rehashing their lyrics long after the show. \nWe request a minimum of $6 per adult listener\, with all money collected going to the artists. Bring a blanket or a lawn chair and spend the afternoon basking in the music with the Mississippi as the backdrop.
