SUMMARY:Ben Cosgrove
DESCRIPTION:Join us on Mother’s Night! Ben Cosgrove\, pianist extraordinaire\, will take you on a spectacular\, emotional journey through his music. If you have an affinity for piano\, this is a must experience show. We ask for a minimum $10 cash per adult listener with all $$ going to the artist. The show will take place on the porch or outside (weather permitting).Food and drink are available for sale from the bar. There will be no server on the porch during the performance. Kitchen closes at 7pm on Sunday.\nABOUT THE ARTIST:MUSICIAN\, WRITER\, & LANDSCAPE ENTHUSIASTBen Cosgrove is a traveling composer-performer whose music explores themes of landscape\, place\, and environment. Ben has performed across the US\, collaborated with artists ranging from Palaver Strings to Ghost of Paul Revere\, and held artist residencies and fellowships with institutions including the National Park Service\, the National Forest Service\, Harvard University\, Middlebury College\, the Schmidt Ocean Institute\, NASA\, and the Sitka Center for Art & Ecology.Ben’s fourth studio album\, The Trouble With Wilderness\, an evocation of different expressions of nature and wildness within the built environment\, was released earlier this year. The album has been the subject of an episode of the NHPR show Outside/In\, was deemed one of the best new releases of spring 2021 by WBUR\, and has been called “beautiful and fascinating” (The Maine Edge)\, “deeply impressive” (Independent Clauses) and “immediately evocative and fully arresting… brim[ming] with technical mastery and emotional capital” (Seven Days).Ben travels constantly all over the country\, performing a unique variety of original instrumental music that explores themes of landscape\, geography\, and environment while straddling a line between folk and classical music. His “electric and exhilarating” live performances are at once dazzling and intimate: music that has been described as “stunning” and “compelling and powerful\,” — Red Line Roots has called him “stupidly talented” — all presented with “warmth\, humor\, honesty\, and the easy familiarity of a troubadour.”Throughout his career\, the strongest forces guiding Ben’s composition and performances have been his deep and abiding interests in landscape\, geography\, place\, and environment. For years\, he has been fascinated and inspired by the different ways people understand and interact with the landscapes around them\, and through songs with names like “Prairie Fire\,” “Champlain\,” “Little Rain\,” “Nashua\,” “Sigurd F. Olson\,” “Kennebec\,” and others\, he seeks to explore those relationships and reflect them in sound. “I don’t think of my pieces as rendering places in music\,” he once remarked in an interview in Harvard Magazine\, “but more just as a way of responding to places musically. Writing music just turns out to be a great way for me to process the world.”Do not miss this insanely talented performer in this magical space. We hope you can join us.

SUMMARY:MarDe Brooks
DESCRIPTION:As the very first notes hit the air\, you hear the impact of a young boy spinning his daddy’s vinyl collection\, you feel the echoes of the small Alabama mill town on the banks of the Chattahoochee River—and\, you hear his heart.\nThis powerhouse vocalist and rhythm guitarist wrote his first collection of songs in just under a year at his home in Valley\, Alabama after spending 11 years as frontman of the rock band Fifth Element. During his time with Fifth Element\, they opened for heavy hitters Blackberry Smoke and Drivin’ and Cryin’.\nBrooks felt the call to write and perform his own original music and reached out to a songwriter friend in Mississippi who encouraged him to gather his influences and experiences—and put pen to paper. Brooks used this inspiration to craft a collection of original songs that are surprising in their candidness\, comforting in their familiarity\, and disarming in their authenticity.\nMarDe then decided to record his new songs and signed up to work with producer and engineer Greg McGowan at his studio Rose City Recording in Charleston\, West Virginia.\nThe session brought together some of the region’s best and brightest musicians and in a truly creative and collaborative spirit\, the album came together with an electric current of ideas. Joey Lafferty on bass\, Mark Cline Bates on keys\, lead guitarists Jeremiah Hatfield\, David McGuire\, and Travis Egnor trading licks\, and rounding out the rhythm section were drummers Jeremy “Wood” Roberts and Eric Robbins. Also sitting in was fiddler Molly Lynn Page who added a special flavor to Brooks’ songs. And\, songwriter Ritch Henderson\, Jeremiah Hatfield\, Eric Robbins\, and Mark Cline Bates lent their voices on harmony vocals.\nHis debut album\, ‘Running Out of Time’ will take you on a journey—deep tones that stretch from central Alabama to the hollers and hills of Appalachia. It is an Americana album through and through: infectious and compelling\, shrouded in a certain kind of timelessness\, and written from a place of both struggle and hope.\nAfter Brooks made the decision to step from a day job into a solo music career\, the universe answered in kind. Onstage\, his magnetism tears down the walls to connect with audiences across the South. Brooks opened for the newest Oh Boy recording artist\, Arlo McKinley\, toured with fellow Alabama songwriter Ritch Henderson\, and\, also appeared with the traveling songwriter showcase HiIlbillies and Guitars. He has received invitations to perform at regional festivals such as Gypsy Fest and Kentucky’s Festival of the Red.\nAs his lyrics say\, “Even if you do things the right way\, you don’t always get what is earned.” But\, sometimes—and especially in this case—MarDe Brooks will definitely get what is earned. In fact\, he just made an album that you’ll be singing along with for a long time to come.\nWe ask for a minimum of $5 cash for the musician. He’s driven from Alabama to entertain Trempealeau. We proudly host Marde Sunday in partnership with Muddy Waters where he plays Saturday night.

SUMMARY:Clay Fulton
DESCRIPTION:Clay Fulton is a singer-songwriter from Rochester\, Minnesota. His debut album When Trouble Comes has been a long time coming. Songs like “Walls Of St. Paul” and “When Trouble Comes” were written while studying at McNally Smith College of Music in St. Paul\, Minnesota before coming home to help run the family restaurant. While buried in the business that is owning a restaurant\, he found time to play live music and create songs like “Down On Broadway” that tell of the late nights that follow a long day of work\, and the winding down that takes place afterwards. Using the peaceful vessel of a long drive\, Clay gracefully takes us through his journey showcasing the importance of family and relationships in his more recent songs “Show Me State” and “Call My Bluff”. Clay has a knack for writing clever and simple lines that are both approachable and memorable. We experience that first hand in the song “28 Days”. This album takes us back to the great American folk singers of yesteryear with a modern indie-pop twist; think John Prine meets Dawes. When Trouble Comes balances smart story-telling with serious but playful musical arrangements to support them. Clay definitely wants you to feel the angst\, frustration and grit of the ups and downs of love and life\, all while leaving you with a sign of hope. He’s on the road solo while the ‘Lost 40’ band are getting ready for a busy outdoor concert season.$6 or more cash cover per adult listener with all money collected going directly to the artist. Hugs and kisses! Here he is with the bandhttps://m.youtube.com/watch?v=qoYaLkhkBsU…

Steeped in everyone from Jimi Hendrix\, to Wes Montgomery\, John Mayer to D’Angelo\, Bob Dylan to John Prine\, The Band to Chris Stapleton\, Bill Withers and Roberta Flack\, he has created a uniquely American sound.\nFrom humble beginnings in rural North Carolina with traveling salesmen parents\, to the picturesque landscapes of upstate NY with apple farmer grandparents\, Dylan Doyle was exposed to many different walks of life. As a child he saw the grit and determination of the American working class. In those formative years before even playing music he learned the value of heart and truth\, two things he would carry with him into his music. At 13 he would perform on stage for the first time only a year after picking up an instrument.By age 15 Dylan Doyle was on his first tour to Memphis\, and Arkansas where he would play at the King Biscuit Blues Festival. There he began collecting stories and observing the complexities and vastness of the American people. Performing in cities\, rural towns\, small theatres\, and dive bars alike Doyle found a way to connect and command crowds with an ability far exceeding his years.\nAt 19\, a week after recording his live album “Live At The Falcon”\, Dylan Doyle set his sights abroad\, performing a solo tour in Ireland playing to different audiences across the country. The next year at 20 he was inducted into the New York Blues Hall Of Fame\, making him at the time\, the youngest member ever inducted.\nAt 21\, after spending time in Manhattan\, experiencing the vibrant music scene\, he began to take a turn musically\, diving into RnB and jazz. In the year that ensued he began working with young up and coming New York “cats”\, exploring new sounds and approaches to writing. After a tour with upstate New York drummer and producer Manuel Quintana\, the two started work on his sophomore album\, “Pleasures Of The Damned” where Doyle and Quintana found harmony between Dylan’s Americana roots and the new ideas brought back from Manhattan. After the global pandemic\, in 2021 Doyle would release the album on a midwest tour headlining the historic Al Ringling Theatre in Baraboo\, WI. In an article from the Baraboo News on the show it was noted – “He can go from the soft and lyrical to just all of a sudden bringing on a hail storm of intensity in his guitar playing.”\nFurther testament to Dylan Doyle’s arc as an artist he began 2023 with a 7 week residency in Manhattan\, at the Club Groove located on the legendary MacDougal Street in Greenwich Village. That year he would play over 200 shows in the North East\, Midwest and South. He looks forward to releasing a growing catalog of over 20 unreleased songs\, and many more dates across the US and Europe.“It is with great pleasure I put the spotlight on a wonderful musician\, Dylan Doyle. Dylan is only eighteen\, but his abilities as a guitarist go well beyond those years. There truly must be something in the water in Upstate New York. Dylan joined the group Minstrel (Connor Kennedy\, Lee Falco\, Will Bryant\, and Brandon Moss) and me last September at The Falcon in Marlboro\, NY. He sat in on Little Feat’s “Dixie Chicken” that evening. His playing was flawless and inventive. Live performance is not about only playing a song but being aware of the conversation and flow of those you’re playing with. He spoke beautifully and was listening to what was going on around him. His musicianship was impressive. I wish him the very best on the journey he’s undertaking as a songwriter and leader of his own band. I look forward to our next conversation.”-Bill Payne of Little Feat“As we say in the the south\, ‘this boy has the real goods’.”\nButch Dener – Manager of ‘The Band’\nThe hat will be passed. We ask for a minimum $6 contribution to the band. These guys put on a hell of a show!

SUMMARY:Gregg "Cheech" Hall - 441/4
DESCRIPTION:He didn’t get to spend his actual birthday with us\, but this is his 44 1/4 birthday. Gregg has been a cornerstone of the western Wisconsin music scene for nearly half his life. He has played on a dozen albums\, recorded over 100 songs\, and performed countless shows as a sideman\, frontman\, and solo/duo act. You’d think he’d be easing up\, settling into a comfortable groove.Think again. With his newly released album “Echoes in the Treetops\,” and CD “Live from 1st Avenue & 7th Street Entry” Hall makes it clear that inside his chest beats the raging heart of a rocker. On “Treetops”\, the seven-song collection has the fire and effervescence\, of a debut album\, but it’s seasoned with the soul and perspective of a high-mileage road warrior and the wisdom of a one-time party animal who saw the light and found sobriety six years ago. Get yourselves together and make some noise for this guy. The hat will be passed. Kindly have $6 cash (or more) to help keep the ‘Cheech’ show on the road. He’s definitely a Trempealeau favorite.

SUMMARY:Mike Munson
DESCRIPTION:Having established himself as an adept slide guitar player\, Mike Munson is steeped in the country blues tradition. His original works weave together dark lyrics\, impossibly fast-paced finger-picking and grinding rhythms. His sound marks the similarities and highlights the distance between Fred McDowell\, Leo Kottke and Chuck Berry. His latest album Underwood-With nine tracks of both traditional and original music\, Underwood solidifies Mike Munson’s place in the blues genre. Inspired by a prompt from Minnesota craft whiskey maker\, Rick Schneider\, after a night of music on his front porch\, Munson recorded the album live in two short days at Underwood Recording Studios in Minneapolis with no overdubs and no compiled takes. The guidance and creativity of Mark Stockert behind the soundboard combined with his unconventional and thoughtful microphone placement builds sonics that harken back to the juke joints and early electrified recording sessions of country blues. With this collection of songs\, Munson demonstrates how much he has learned over the years from mentors like Jimmy “Duck” Holmes (Bentonia\, MS) through numerous southern sojourns.Munson continues to use simplicity\, melancholy and drive to add another chapter to the story of American music. He relies on his innate skills on the instrument with little help from effects or accompaniment. From Robert Johnson’s “Stones in my Passway” to the traditional tune “Poor Black Mattie\,” Munson blends his guitar prowess with the gritty tone that has become his signature.“Sailing For You” and “Saint Anne” exemplify his songwriting skill\, both lyrically and melodically\, with heavy rhythms overlaid with intricate fingerpicking complimented by stories that keep darkness and light deeply intertwined. The four original tracks on the album were all written while on a weeklong artistic retreat in a cabin in rural Wisconsin in winter of 2023 sponsored by the Two ChickadeesProject.Underwood the album gives the listener a clear glimpse of Underwood the studio\, the unadulterated sound of one person with one electric guitar in a basement room of a small Minneapolis home. Somehow\, it also transports the listener to a different time and place where that one person sits on the front porch of a small house in the country with an acoustic guitar and sings the blues.Bring cash $$. The hat will be passed for the artist. Please plan for a minimum contribution of $6 per adult listener.
