| $5Luray creates strange and lovely bedfellows of sound – banjo layered over ambient sounds make up this once bluegrass-picking songwriter’s approach to making music. Luray’s debut album ‘The Wilder’ was called “beautifully lush” by Bob Boilen of NPR.’The Wilder’ and sophomore album, ‘Dig’ was produced by brother, Sean Carey (S.Carey). ‘Dig’ was released on 6131 Records in 2019 and was featured on the New York Times New Music Playlist. “My songs tell me what’s going on with me, like my unconscious trying to get my attention,” says Carey. Although she called Richmond, Virginia home for a number of years, Luray debuted as a band in Washington, DC in 2012. Her music also has an inescapable imprint of her Wisconsin upbringing and collaboration with brothers, Sean and Colin. Now, a mother of two, Shannon has returned home to Wisconsin, and performs with husband, Scott Burton and the occasional brother.
This is their first time to The Hotel. Let’s show them some extra love.
