He’s shared the stage with many local, national and international recording artists and adds his own unique energy which sets the vibe and energizes the crowd.
International Reggae All-Stars (IRAS)
With band members hailing from Venezuela to Trinidad, and Ghana to Jamaica, the International Reggae All-Stars are truly a global band.
Featuring one of today’s hottest reggae vocalists, Kingston native Lynval “Golden Voice” Jackson, the International Reggae All-Stars play reggae, dancehall and all the Bob Marley classics, and bring peace, love and positive vibrations with them where ever they go.
TUGG
These artists do an amazing job channeling tropical grooves and breezy melodies and they are a top draw in the Midwest and beyond. TUGG boasts an impressive resume of rubbing shoulders with reggae heavyweights. From shows with Ziggy Marley, Barrington Levy and Slightly Stoopid to Tours with The Wailers, The Dirty Heads, and PASSAFIRE… TUGG continues to prove why they’re a star of the alternative reggae/ska scene. All of the band’s last 5 releases have debuted in the Top 50 of the iTunes Reggae Chart. Their EP “Home Brew” climbed all the way to #2 and spent 3 weeks in the Hot 100 iTunes Reggae Album Chart. Their album “Mazes” was recorded and produced by PASSAFIRE’S Ted Bowne.
Gizzae
More than just a Chicago band, Gizzae is truly a band of the world – with musicians hailing from across the globe. Rocket and Gizzae have been playing for crowds across the country for over 35 years! Their musical experiences have collectively earned them Grammy® awards, Chicago Music Awards and they have opened for some of the biggest names in Reggae. They have also recorded and played professionally with such acts as: Ziggy Marley, The Rolling Stones, Bruce Springsteen, Third World, Toots and Maytals, Burning Spear, Carly Simon, The Talking Heads, Rita Marley, Judy Mowatt, Chachi, Michael Black, Moja Nya, Dallol, Rude Beat Society, The Mighty Baron of Trinidad, Bell Combo and many others. Working and playing with such a vast array of musical styles and talents has enabled Gizzae to create a unique blend of Roots Reggae. Gizzae’s brand of jam-reggae is always backed with strong guitar solos and riffing, warm pads and ambient vibes from the dual keyboardists. Some songs are heavily influenced by Soca and Calypso and even jazz, rock and blues. Just when you think you’ve heard everything Gizzae has to offer, the band instinctively and seamlessly transitions into Bob Marley reggae/blues finale to satisfy the keyboard and guitar solo fans. This is the way to see a Chicago reggae band! Formed in 1992 after the breakup of Dallol (Ziggy Marley’s Touring Band) and Moja Nya (New York), Gizzae soon became a fan favorite in the Chicago and Midwest reggae scene. A Sunday night staple at the fledgling Wild Hare, fans started to come out to hear this new reggae band in force and they still rock the house. If you like live jams and wicked solos, come dance the night away with Gizzae!
